What Is The Purpose Of The Disposable Sampling Swab

Jul 30, 2021

Disposable sampling swabs are suitable for the collection of microorganisms, which can assist hospitals or laboratories to detect viruses or research virus sampling, and are used for biological samples from the natural cavities of humans or animals, such as throat, nasal cavity, oral cavity, vagina, etc. .

It can also be used for human oral or nasal disease detection. A sampling swab is needed to collect oral epidermal cells or nasal virus samples, and the cells or samples are stored in the collection tube, and then transferred to the laboratory for testing.

Here are two operation cases for you:

 Throat swab operation case:

①. Tear off the sealing paper on the disposable sampling swab packaging bag, and take out the disposable sampling swab from the bag.

Note: The disposable sampling swab should not touch anything other than the throat to avoid contamination.

②. Hold the disposable sampling swab into the throat, and quickly wipe the palate and throat on both sides

③. After the collection is completed, please take the throat sampling swab out of the mouth and put it into the sampling test tube, break off the handle of the disposable sampling swab at the place with the broken mark, cover the sampling test tube cap, tighten and save.

Note: Too many rotations will cause dilution or loss of the sample. After sampling, make sure that the disposable sampling swab does not touch any other objects.

 Nasal swab operation case:

①. Please keep the patient's head still and remove the secretions on the surface of the anterior nasal cavity;

②. Gently and slowly insert the swab through the nasal cavity to the nasopharynx;

③. When resistance is encountered, it will reach the posterior nasopharynx, stay for a few seconds to suck secretions;

④ Take out the swab by gently rotating it and place it in the transport medium;

⑤. For swabs used for virological testing, immerse the swab head in the virus transport liquid, discard the tail, and screw the tube cap tightly;

⑥. The swab used for bacteriological examination should be inserted back into the sampling device or suitable transfer device.
