Usage Of The Graduated Cylinder

Sep 30, 2026

Basic usage steps:

‌1.Select the correct size‌: Choose the graduated cylinder based on the volume to be measured. Select the smallest size that can hold the entire volume at one time for less error. For example, if you need to measure 70 mL of liquid, use a 100 mL graduated cylinder instead of a 10 mL one and adding 7 times.
2‌.Place it steadily‌: Place the graduated cylinder on a flat surface and keep it stable.
‌3.Pouring the liquid and adjusting the volume‌: First, pour the liquid directly. When it is close to the scale (within 1-2 mL), use a rubber dropper to add drop by drop until reaching the scale line.
‌4.Correct reading‌: Wait for 1-2 minutes for the liquid on the inner wall to flow down. Then, keep your line of sight, the scale line, and the lowest point of the concave liquid surface level before reading the measurement.
