Classification Of Laboratory Condensers

Reflux condenser:

When there are volatile liquid reactants, in order to avoid the loss of the reactants and make full use of the raw materials, a condensing reflux device should be designed in the generating device to make the substance return from a gaseous state to a liquid state after condensation, so as to reflux and collect. The laboratory can be realized by installing a long glass tube or a condensing reflux tube in the generating device.

Straight condenser tube:

It is composed of a straight glass tube combined inside and outside. It is mostly used for operations where the distillation steam temperature is less than 140 degrees Celsius, and not for reflux. The upper and lower sides of the outer pipe are respectively provided with connecting pipe joints, which are used to make a water inlet and a water inlet.

How to use: When using, connect the connection port on the lower end to the faucet with a plastic tube as a water inlet. Because the water temperature at the water inlet is lower, and the water temperature after being heated by the steam is higher, the hotter water will automatically flow upward due to the decrease in density, which helps the cooling water circulation.

Air condenser:

Air condenser and straight condenser are used when steaming products (including distillation and fractionation). When the boiling point of the distillate exceeds 140 degrees Celsius, an air condenser is generally used to prevent the straight condenser from being cooled by water, which may cause the glass to explode due to excessive temperature difference.

Spherical condenser tube:

The inner tube is connected by a number of glass balls, used for the reflux of organic preparation, and is suitable for liquids with various boiling points.

After long-term use, the rust in the spacer can be washed away with hydrochloric acid. Disadvantages: The condensed liquid is easy to get stuck in the glass ball after solidification. Due to the high water pressure at the water inlet, the hose is easy to fall off, so it must be tied with an iron wire when using it.

Snake-shaped condenser tube:

Used for reflux in organic preparation, suitable for liquids with lower boiling points.

Double plug condenser:

Containing two grinding plugs, the cone diameters of the grinding plugs are different, and it is convenient to choose the cone diameter during inspection, one is the top two.
